Day 92:The Heat - XM 68
Making a final visit to the Urban channels, the Bootcamp visits a new channel called The Heat.
The Heat is a rythmatic Top 40 channel. It plays the hottest hip-hop/rap and R&B that is on the pop charts. Artists like Kayne West, Mariah Carey and Ciara can be heard on here. I heard that this channel was supposed to have DJ's (it already has a phone line) but as far as I can tell there are no DJ's on at the moment.
Some of the songs I heard were "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It" by Dem Franchise Boys, "Baby I'm Back" by Baby Bash, "It's Goin' Down" by Yung Joc, "Be Without You" by Mary J. Blige, "Say I" by Christina Millan, "Oh Boy" by Cam'ron, "Yo (Excuse Me Miss) by Chris Brown and "Don't Phunk With My Heart" by Black Eyed Peas.
I'm not that impressed with The Heat. For one thing, it's playing too many slow songs - rythmatic Top 40 should be uptempo and fun to listen to. Also, it has been known to be quite repetitive. The worst of all is that a good "niche" channel, The Flow, left the satellites for a channel that features music that can be heard on a few other XM channels. That is dissapointing. Why leave out certain genres while other types of music is covered on multiple channels? I feel The Heat is really a letdown and should not be on XM.
