Day 100:Ethel - XM 47
The Bootcamp returns to the Rock channels with Ethel.
Ethel is a modern alternative rock channel. It plays the hottest alternative rock and it also plays songs from the 90's and the early 2000's. It has 2 DJ's that I know of. As far as weekly programs, I believe it has at least one but I'm not sure what they are.
Some of the songs I heard were "Bones" by Radiohead, "Swallowed" by Bush, "Verse Chorus Verse" by Nirvana, "Car Song" by Elastica, "Down" by 311, "Tear You Apart" by She Wants Revenge, "Ball and Biscuit" by the White Stripes and "I Hate My Generation" by Cracker.
Ethel has gone through many changes within the past year. It was recently a mix of the hottest alternative rock with older songs and some indie rock thrown in. It was known by many as a great alternative rock channel. Then a new Program Director came in (his name is Steve Kingston) and turned it into nearly a FM alternative rock station. Many people complained and the channel has now turned into a more deeper alternative rock channel. But it seems to have lost its focus. Steve Kingston is not the right Program Director for Ethel. I'll be checking out Ethel more and see if I enjoy it on a more regular basis. As far as I can tell, Ethel is good but not as good as it was last year. What a pity.
