Day 94:The Village - XM 15

Making a return visit to the Country channels, the XM Bootcamp lands at The Village.

This is an all folk channel, covering both new music as well as recordings from years ago. This channel is known for its "themes". What I mean is that the channel was known for playing many songs in a row with a certain word in the title. Now, it seems to have artist themes where you can hear a couple of songs in a row by some artist. There are no DJ's (which I feel the channel could use at least one) but it does have weekly programs.

Some of the songs I heard were "Beauty Way" by Eliza Gilkyson, "Mysterious Woman" by Christine Lavin, "Mystics Dream" by Loreena McKennitt, "Dress Rehearsal" by Judy Collins, "You're Aging Well" by Joan Baez, "The Priest" by Joni Mitchell, "Preacher" by Ray Hubbard and "Maybe Someday" by the Incredible String Band.

I find The Village to be a great channel. My only problem with it is that there are no DJ's and the "themes" can be kind of hokey at times. Also, the sweepers heard are sometimes too long. Still, this is a good channel to listen to folk music.
