Day 96:Viva - XM 91

Making a final visit to the Latin channels, the XM Bootcamp stops at a new channel called Viva.

Viva is a Latin pop channel, something that has been missing on XM Radio for some time (ever since Caricia left the satellites). I'm not sure how different Viva is to Caricia. Viva is the channel to hear a lot of Latin ballads as well as more uptempo music. I guess it can be compared to something like The Blend or The Heart. There are no DJ's; I'm not sure if there will be any in the future.

Some of the songs I heard were "Que Me Alcance" by Sin Bandera, "Me Voy" by Julieta Venegas, "Solo En Ti" by Enrique Iglesias, "Dia De Enero" by Shakira, "4:30 AM" by Obie Bermudez, "Una Confusion" by Lu, "Lo Que Me Gusta" by Juanes and "Si Te Perdiera" by Luis Miguel.

It's nice that there is a Latin pop channel back on XM but I hate that a cool Latin jazz channel, Luna, had to replace it. The sweepers on Luna are pretty bad though. Many XM channels have poor sweepers...you would think XM could do a better job making them sound good. I'm not sure if Viva is a good channel. Better sweepers and a DJ or two would improve things for sure. Still, Viva is fine for when you want to hear some Latin pop.
