Day 97:Hank's Place - XM 13

The XM Bootcamp makes its final visit to the Country channels with Hank's Place.

Hank's Place is where you can listen to the early country music, mainly from the 60's through even the 80's. It plays both the big country hits as well as flip sides and album cuts. The sweepers and the DJ's give you the impression that you are located in some old country bar. This is the place to hear REAL country music, not the watered down "country music" that gets played today.

Some of the songs I heard were "It's Me Again Margaret" by Ray Stevens, "Warmth of the Wine" by Johnny Bush, "Big Iron" by Marty Robbins, "Congratulations, You're Absoultely Right" by Tony Booth, "Daddy Sang Bass" by Johnny Cash, "Tiger Woman" by Claude King, "On the Other Hand" by Randy Travis and "Sally Was a Good 'Ole Girl" by Buck Owens.

Though there are a bit too many sweepers that get played, it's hard to find fault with Hank's Place. It is what it claims to be...a channel playing many great classic country songs with the atmosphere of a honky-tonk. I check out Hank's Place from time to time to experience the real country music.
